Meh Materialists
The Materialists is a solid watch: stylish, sharp, and full of unforgettable one-liners that make you want to rewind just to hear them again. Chris’s monologue? It stabbed me. Not figuratively. That was spiritual violence. The whole film plays like a witty dance through love, self-worth, and the bizarre capitalist rituals we perform in the name of romance.
That said, the acting didn’t exactly blow me away. From anyone. It was fine, watchable, sure—but at times it felt too muted, too restrained, like everyone was holding back when the script was begging for punch. But regardless. That wedding venue scene? Obsessed. I need that address immediately.
